Happy Labor Day!!!  Without a doubt hard work is the root behind many successful and wonderful things in life!  It takes hard work to manifest a dream, raise a family, be successful in your career, create wellness in your life and the list can go on!  If we want to make a change, make a difference, do something great we must apply hard work!!

We see the hard work that YOU all put in on a regular basis inside and outside of FitHouse and hope that you spent some time this weekend or today enjoying all of the fruits of your hard work and labor!

We have been working hard at FitHouse to bring you the Best in Health and Wellness and to help you create strong and healthy bodies and minds! We know how important it is to keep yourself healthy and well so you can live life to the fullest and achieve what you desire in life!!! It is our mission to make taking care of YOU possible and provide the education and welcoming environment to do so!

There are lots of things happening in September so they are outlined below! You can find more details further down in the page!

As We Kick back into the School year let’s take some time connect and kick back with our FitHouse Family!! Join Us this Friday from 10-11:30AM for a FitHouse Back to School Brunch!

We will have Food, The Mack and Mario Truck will be joining us with clothing and accessories, Mini Massages by Jess and some members sharing their favorite beauty and wellness products to help us avoid the extra stressors of this season and feel our best as we head into fall.

5k walk for colon cancer

Join FitHouse Sunday Sept. 17th at the South Side Works for the Pittsburgh Undy 5K Walk/Run for Colon Cancer! Formerly The Scope It Out 5K,  FitHouse is proud to be a part of this Event !! We will be leading the Warm Up for this to support a great cause. This is a great race for Families, first time 5kers and anyone looking to get out and support a great cause!

JUST DO IT. Even if You Suck.

Do you have something that you don’t like to do or that you procrastinate doing because you feel like you suck at it? We all have things that we are great at and most of us have things that we SUCK at too…I have several but I will share one of those with you today.

Every week somehow this thing somehow manages to fall off my to do list!! While it may not seem like that big of a deal it is something that I know can help me get positive messages out there and can help me do a better job at reaching more people in an impactful way. There is no good reason not to do it other than feeling like I suck at it! That thing is Facebook live! Ugh!  I will do a dance for you or sing a song any day, get up in front of a crowd and talk, teach a class with 100 people but staring into FaceBook live is a different story!

When something is new to us a lot of times we are not great at it or we may even suck.How many times do you opt out of doing something because you think you won’t be good. We use the excuse “oh it’s really not my thing” when deep down we know we are just acting out of fear or discomfort. How many times do we tell our kids to get up and try again even when they aren’t great at something. It’s not always easy but we know that with consistency we often keep getting better and with enough consistency we can even eventually become a master at something!

Sometimes we need to JUST DO IT even if we suck! We all know what those things are! These are the things that we don’t have to do but we need to do because they are the things that make us better, the things that move us further on our mission, the things that move us closer to our dreams or to the person that we want to be.

This week I challenge you to suck at something and not care about it! Popover to the members Facebook page and share what it is!

I am pretty sure that if you stay consistent with that one thing, practice it regularly and make a commitment  it WILL get easier, you WILL get better and you WILL gain confidence to move me on to something even bigger!

No better time than now #FitHouse

Happy Sunday!! I hope you all had a great week! We had an awesome trip from farm to beach meeting new friends and spending a week with family!

The farm experience was really cool! Although it was funny it made we realize how different our lives are and how sheltered we can become. The farm was about 20 minutes outside of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains but it was really remote in the area. The property was about 5 acres and it was surrounded by some trailers, camping sites and cabins. People came and went off the property and many of the people that were working there were volunteering and living in tents on the property! Can you imagine living out of a tent for 6-8 months?!?!  I thought a cruise ship cabin was roughing it! The cell phone reception and Wifi was limited so there wasn’t much service…no 911 in an emergency. As beautiful as it was the kids kept saying that it kind of reminded them of a horror movie, you know when you pull up to this beautiful cabin in the middle of nowhere and then at night the crazies come out..lol!  At night it was so desolate and quiet that I couldn’t help to feel that way..it was actually comforting to hear those roosters cock a doodle doing in the early hours! It was such a cool place that I really wanted to know more about Franny, the owner and the story behind the farm.

One of my favorite parts of traveling a I get older is connecting with new people. The morning that we left I got to sit down with Franny over a cup of coffee and hear all about her story. She was a Nashville girl and had spent the past 15 years in Pharmaceuticals with a very comfortable 6 figure income. She said that in her last 5 years or so as a rep she had enough of the industry and just wanted out so she decided to take a BIG jump. Franny loved the outdoors and animals, she is a believer in whole foods, organic living and wanted a simple lifestyle. She bought the land that the farm was on 5 years ago and built everything from scratch. She went from her 6 figure lifestyle to having absolutely nothing. They spent about 10 months building the barn house and farm and living in a trailer. Just when they were going to build themselves (her and her husband) a little house on the top of the mountain on their property they found out that another 40 acres was up for sale right beside them. This was way more than their little house but they went for it. Franny is still living in a small trailer on her property and rents out the house that we stayed in. She said that she has never worked so hard in her life as she had in the past 5 years. She was a super cool chic and driven by a dream!  I told her that I would spread the word to anyone wanting to experience something different and fabulous in the Asheville area…it truly was a fabulous experience!

When I went to Vegas last month I had an opportunity to connect with one of my coaches. He asked me what was the biggest thing that I learned in the past year?  I thought for a little while and then I said I think I have to say Patience-
Anything great takes time! At the start of my FitHouse Journey 2-3 years ago there was so much that I wanted to happen. There was so much that I wanted to do and knew that I needed to do, so many ideas but in my head  I couldn’t make it all happen fast enough. How many times do we do this with
dreams, goals, struggles etc?  It was really hard not to worry and not want to throw in the towel over every setback. This helped me learn perseverance like never before and start to look at the bigger picture if I didn’t want to lose my sanity! It’s kinda like that 1% rule, when we take it one step at a time, one idea at a time, one challenge at a time, one stepping stone at a time, it adds up after time. Once you can accept that it is easier to enjoy the ride.
My conversation with Franny reinforced this thought!

The thing that I love about going away is that it often gives us the chance to get those juices flowing and get recharge our energy! It’s sometimes hard to get back to the “norm” but I love that feeling of coming back and seeing things through new eyes. I went for a a run this morning and although running on the beach next to the ocean was great the 90 degree humidity was not so fun. I had an extra appreciation for the green trees, the acorns on the ground, the deer that I passed and the crisp air!

I also had a chance to listen to a few audibles on my car rides and my runs! I Highly recommend
“The Five Second Rule” by Mel Robbins
and I am in the process of listening to
“How Not to Die” by Michael Greger MD..he cuts right to the point…lol! I went to his session in Vegas and definitely wanted to hear more about what he had to say!  I’ll share more on his info on adding years and quality to our lives and our children’s!

I challenge you this week to take a step that you are stalling on with your health, your fitness or something in life! Remember you can achieve anything that you desire as long as you are flexible with the timeline and you take the steps!

Change Your Mindset, Change Your Life!

You must master a new way to think before you can master a new way to be

Life can be BEAUTIFUL, Life can be CHALLENGING, Life can be REWARDING and Life can be HARD!  Life is never a straight path. It is the peaks and valleys that give it meaning, open our eyes to new things and help us discover more about ourselves. Sometimes when in those valleys that is a easy to lose sight of.

When I was away there were a lot of people selling their systems, their products and their programs. There were systems for a better body, products for maximum strength, and programs to help gain more success and so on. These programs  were created by some of the top professionals in the industry!  There were many testimonials about their success. Will they work for you and me?!?!? If they are run with a good operating system! One of the things that we know is that the BEST programs in the world will not run on faulty operating systems!!

So our success with a diet plan, an exercise program, a lifestyle change, or a lifetime goal is greatly determined by our own human operating systems! Is your operating system running effectively?!?! Does your operating system need a tune up or maybe a complete overhaul?!?!?!What makes up our operating systems???

Attitude, believes, habits, learned behaviors and instinctual behaviors are all a part of our operating systems. Mindsets are BIG part of our operating systems as well and may be the KEY to changing a faulty system!!!

What are Mindsets?  Mindsets are beliefs—beliefs about yourself and your most basic qualities. Think about your intelligence, your talents, your personality. Are these qualities simply fixed traits, carved in stone and that’s that? Or are they things you can cultivate throughout your life? A mindset is turning adversity into your greatest asset. Our minds are greatly affecting by the way that we take care of our bodies and our environmental factors. Our nutrition, exercise, sleep and  recovery all have an enormous impact on our Mindset!  When our bodies are not in a good place it makes it a lot harder to have a great Mindset.

It is a little like a double edge sword, when our minds are not right its hard to get our bodies feeling good and when our bodies are not feeling good then it is hard to get our minds right. Out of the above list; nutrition, exercise, sleep and recovery, which area could you give a little more attention to in order to make sure that your operating system is updated and running smoothly!?!?!

Never underestimate the power of your Mind and Body and it’s ability to make Life greater!!

She has developed a slight addiction to the Spartan races completing 2 in the past two months and a third coming up next month.

FitHouse Takes IDEA WORLD

Christine and Linds are heading to Vegas!

As most of you know I am in Los Angeles right now with my two oldest daughters. My daughter Kaylies one request this year for Christmas and her birthday back in February was a trip to LA so she could take dance classes at some of the top studios with the teachers who are her mentors.  One thing that has definitely served me well in my life is passion and although LA was a big request I welcomed an opportunity for her to follow her passion as well as to step outside of her comfort zone.. We have had a great trip so far and they are definitely getting a chance to see all sides of LA and experience the flavor of the West Coast.

Another thing that I find so important in life is learning!  It keeps life interesting and it gives us opportunities to help serve others better.  The best part is when you get to go somewhere fun to do it! After we finish our adventures in LA I will be meeting Linds in Vegas for the Superbowl of all fitness conventions IDEA World!!! I truly wish that I could take all of you with us because there is so much energy, passion, knowledge and inspiration that it is beyond contagious. I am super excited for Linds to get to experience it with me this year AND to have a partner in crime in Vegas!!! I will speak for the entire team at FitHouse in saying that although we absolutely LOVE what we do we can get a little stale sometimes and we need that same motivation and inspiration that you do! Learning new things, hearing new ideas and being surrounded by the top of the top in exercise science, nutrition, personal development, behavioral science and the fitness industry is one sure fire way to make sure that we keep getting better and continue to bring the BEST to YOU!!!

Stay posted as we share lots of great stuff from the week!!! We will let you know if we win big!!!

Shredded, Drenched, and Ripped!

Soak Up The Summer Sun With FitHouse

July 1st (the 182nd Day of the Year) marked the Second Half of the Year Day! NOW is a great time to take a chance to step back, evaluate your year so far with your goals and objectives and to take action to get back on track if necessary. What goals did you make in January for 2017? How are you doing on that path? It’s a great opportunity to do some hard thinking over aspects of your life that you might want to improve as well as celebrate any successes that you have reached in the first half of the year!

Make the second half of the year count! There are still almost 6 months left in 2017. That’s 25 weeks. 175 days. Over 4,000 hours. Take a few minutes to dream about the YOU that you want to be at the end of these 175 days. Select 2-3 areas of focus. Write them down and start living that dream! Don’t be afraid to redesign if you need to and use some summer relaxation to gain the momentum that you need to soar in the next several months!

If better health, fitness and wellness are on your list then we are here to help make the second half of the year a success!!! Ask how we can help you reach your goals!
