FitHouse News 11/23…Sometimes I feel like a NUT!!!!!

StrongerWe are entering the Thanksgiving week!! For most hopefully you are looking forward to a week filled with family, friends and gratitude.  This weekend was a reminder to me how grateful I am for the habit of exercise!!! A lot of people believe that exercise always comes easy to those who do it regularly…not true!!!! I remember a time when running 3 miles made my lungs burn and my legs feel like jello. I remember when I first started lifting weights and I was highly intimidated because as a dancer  I used my body as resistance not lifting heavy metal objects. I remember when I felt sad or depressed or tired or bored I would turn to food or partying to fill that void often only leaving me feeling worse.

Truth be told regular exercise was a habit that came into my life when I was looking for MORE!!! I wanted to challenge myself, my mind and my body. To acheive the dreams that I had, I needed energy, I needed strength, I needed motivation!   Physical goals and exercise were hard!! They were something that I had to work for. If I wanted the benefits I had to do the work. Exercise meant discipline both mentally and physically.  I liked how it made me feel. Challenges were more manageable and life was better when I exercised!  If I wanted exercise to feel good and work for me I had to do it regularly and I also couldn’t abuse it. The more it became a habit in my life the more I realized that it made me a better person not just on the outside but even more so on the inside!!!

One of the other wonderful things about exercise is that it connected me to like minded people who also wanted to be stronger, feel better and achieve goals!!!! These people became a family of support, accountability and strength!!!!  It is not always easy to fit in, it is not always convenient and ok I will say it…it not always fun to get started!! But weekends like this past one are a reminder of why I need to make exercise a priority in my life! It was a very busy weekend with 2 days of an all day dance convention with the girls. Knowing that there would be no prep time this weekend for business or home and family my head was spinning a bit with everything going on this week. Saturday morning I couldn’t fit in exercise and man was I feeling it and I could feel myself getting a bit overwhelmed with the week ahead. As good as an extra hour of sleep sounded for Sunday morning I set that 6AM alarm and knew I had to get those endorphins going if I intended to tackle the day and tackle the week!!! Well the quote “you are only one workout away from a good mood” proved to be right once again!!! So many times in life when the going gets tough we fall out of exercise. This is when we need it the most!!!! With the holiday season approaching and the extra stress that the season brings to so many is upon us….remember you have the power right there inside of you….You are only one workout away from a good mood!!!!! Keep those healthy habit going this holiday season or make a promise to yourself to get them started!!!!

Family Fit Challenge Wednesday 10:15AM

Join us for the last week of the Family FitChallenge Class this Wednesday at 10:15AM for an hour of fitness fun for you and your children!!! Rumor has it there may be a little Gobbling going on! It has been really great to see moms and children sharing this time together being healthy and having fun!!! Thank you for sharing your energy with us!!!!

Wednesday Evening Circuits is Cancelled and FitHouse will be closed Friday November 27

Due to the holiday week we will be carving out some time for our team members to spend with their families and to celebrate their holiday traditions. Wednesday night Tabata basics is cancelled this week and FitHouse will be closed on Friday. We hope you can join us for all of the fun we have lined up the rest of the week!!!

2nd Turkey Gobbler Added!!!!

Thankful TurkeyIt is so wonderful to see so many of you are ready to start your Thanksgiving Day here at FitHouse with the 3rd Annual Turkey Gobbler. We are going to have a blast, burn some major calories and someone will even  leave with the first annual Turkey Gobbler trophy!!!!!!   I can’t begin to express how thankful I am when I  look back and remember that this tradition started three years ago in a basement with the intention to bring a like minded group of people together to start the holiday with a gratefulness for life, a passion for celebrating and of course a desire to shed a pound or two before Thanksgiving Dinner!!!!!

SO to accomodate everyone and as my gratitude for all of you a 2nd Turkey Gobbler Class has been added at 6:30AM before you get that bird in the oven!!!! If you are signed up for the 7:30AM and would like to switch please feel free to do so as we have quite a crowd at 7:30AM.  Let’s pack the house in both Turkey Gobblers!!!!!! 

We will be taking food donations, canned goods and nonperishable items for the Washington County food pantry and Meals on Wheels so please bring an item if you can!!! 

FitHouse News for 11/16

One of the things that I always loved to do and still love to do is be creative!!! Sometimes I have to remind myself of the importance of making the time to get those creative juices flowing! Being creative stimulates the part of our brains that allow us to dream and can also release the those same feel good hormones as exercise!!!

My daughter, Makenna, is my busy bee always coming up with projects, creating things and being crafty! It’s so wonderful to see her put her whole heart into something and to see the “happiness” that she gets when she uses her creativity and talents. With a little extra time on her hands she has been anxiously looking for jobs to do. Some of you may have seen her doing some cleaning at FitHouse, she also created a FitHouse powerpoint …I was pretty impressed ! I gave her the task of finding some holiday projects, things for giving, sharing or just things that woud make herself and other people smile!  With Thanksgiving around the corner we went on a hunt for some fun creative pieces that you can add to your Thanksgiving celebration!!!

 The thing that I love about all of these things is that you can easily sub different ingredients to make the recipes a little healthier or to fit your personal taste. We all want to save our calories for Thanksgiving dinner so these are some great additions to the Thanksgiving table that are fun and festive without adding a ton of calories!!!

I made the cornucopia last year as a Thanksgiving centerpiece and healthy appetizer selection and it was a big hit!!! We filled it with fruit, veggies and cheese and I served with a side of spinach greek yogurt dip! The kids loved digging into the cornacopia when they got the OK!

After going through the toddler years now for the fourth time I have discovered that you can really make any creation that you want with pancakes, a few chocolate chips, fruit and creativity! I love this one because it uses eggs, you could also stick a few bacon feathers on there and add in your favorite heathly pancake recipe for a balanced, fun breakfast!!!!

Check out that Turkey cheeseball!!!! Now that’s a showstopper!!!! Once again you can sub your favorite cheeseball recipe and make this a turkey of your own!!! Add some veggies as an alternative to the crackers and you are all set!

You can never go wrong when you put it on a stick!!!! The options are endless here with fruit, veggies, cheeses, meats and treats…you can decide. I am always amazed at how my kids will eat it if it’s on a stick!!!

These are just a few of the fun Thanksgiving day additions that I found to keep things festive. If you have any more to share send them this way!!!

Small Group Next Level Training Started this past week!!

We are taking it the next level with small group training. Some of you have inquired about the differences between small group and large group training. In a small group setting we can better address individual form issues and imbalances to help you get stronger faster, move in a progressive manner through different phases of strength, including monthly assessments, and advanced progressions based upon your individual level.

Packages are sold in sessions of 4 with an 8-week expiration. Once you purchase your package you are encouraged to book all of your  sessions to secure your spots. Please check the calendar for available space as some time slots are already full. Please contact FitHouse at [email protected] if you have any further questions  or are interested in a particular time slot and to find out it’s availability.

GratitudeHello Friends!!! I hope you all had a great weekend!!! What a beautiful fall day Sunday was! I love the quote above so wanted to share it!!!  We all have those times in life when our light goes out. It is amazing how sometimes just a thought or word from another can rekindle that spark. Sometimes we need that spark and often we can be that spark sometimes without even knowing it with our attitudes, positive energy and outlook and words.The more we practice  Can you think about someone in your life who has rekindled that spark in you or some time in your life when that spark was rekindled?? How awesome to be in a world with people who can lift us up when we need it and to have the power to do the same for others. Let’s make this week a great one by lifting those up around us!!!

4 Package Sessions once weekly (Make up sessions can be made in another small group session in the same month (2 month Expiration))

For BEST results It it highly recommended that sessions are done on consecutive weeks when possible.
