Summer is drawing closer to it’s final days, and for a lot of us, we are getting ready for another shift in our daily schedules, routines and in life! It was back to school shopping day in the Parker household and oh what a fun day was had by all! This time of year we feel an array of emotions as a parent, the sigh of relief to get back to a regularly scheduled program, the anticipation of a new school year and the sadness of time flying by as kids grow up so quickly. I’ve been experiencing all three as Broklynn gets ready for preschool and Kaylie her last year before high school.
As a parent you often play the role of a broken record reminding your children about the important things in life, be kind, be nice to your sisters some day you will appreciate them, always do your best, take care of your body. Sometimes I wonder what percentage of my words if any are sinking in or if they just go floating by. Well in the past few months I have had some glimmers of hope that the umpteen times of repeating myself may actually be paying off or maybe this is just what happens as your children grow older. I’m going with a little of both!
Today when we were out shopping the older two girls were doing a lot of whispering back and forth. I wasn’t sure what to make of the collaborating because for about the past two years it was nearly impossible to even take the two shopping together. The two had formed a few sister rules that often made me want to pull my hair out
- NO wearing anything that resembles what I am wearing
- NO borrowing my clothes
- NO wearing my favorites color
Well today the phrase teamwork makes the dreamwork came alive! The girls decided that they could shop together and share the clothes that they bought, maximizing their wardrobe selection and making the decision of “which shoes should I buy?’ a whole lot easier. You buy that pair, I’ll buy this pair and we will just share them. As a mom my heart was smiling a little bit thinking wow they have come a long way! Needless to say I was already fast forwarding to the morning when they both decide they want to wear the same shoes on the same day. But for now, for today I will appreciate this moment and how far they have come.
The time spent as a family always reminds me about some of the most important things in life. I dug up one of my favorite lists by Robin Sharma called 100 Reminders About What’s Most Important. Take a few minutes to read and see what resonates with you!
Remember to put yourself on the most important list this week and make time to exercise, eat right and be healthy and happy! See you at FitHouse!!

Next Level Training
Small Group Sessions – Max of 8 people
Personal training meets group class
Our bodies adapt to an exercise stimulus after a period of 12-14 weeks. Next level training is designed to keep the body getting stronger and avoid falling to that adaptation by following a periodized program that operates 4 weeks at a time. You will progress through different phases of training designed to build both muscle definition as well as muscular strength.
You can jump in the program at any time and progress from your own starting point! This program is designed for those who truly want to take things to the next level, get more hands-on instruction of proper technique, supercharge your workouts and break through plateaus following a program based on science and designed to get results. Ask those who are already in it, we’ve made great progress so far.
