Take time to do what matters most.Happy Sunday Everyone!!! The sun is shining and the air is crisp. That atmosphere has a way of filling our days with extra energy and life. With certain events of this week I can’t help but to be a little more present, a little more aware of the beauty around me and a little more grateful for the simplicity of the day. I am thankful to wipe the snotty nose of one child, and to deal with the crankiness of three others a little tired from the weekend’s events. I can’t help but to look a little deeper into their eyes and be a little more patient, a little more loving and a lot more grateful. Today I have my loved ones around me, we are healthy and we have everything that we truly need. We truly don’t know what tomorrow will bring so today we need to focus on what is right there in front of us and on making today as meaningful as it can be.

My heart lies heavy with the news that we received earlier in the week about one of our FitHouse members and well respected members of our community, Casey Doran.   Casey was last month’s spotlight of the month. Casey attracted our attention because of her positive energy, her commitment to her health and her desire to live life to the fullest. Last month she was on her journey to health and wellness, she was feeling great, she was feeling strong, she was focusing on making healthy choices in her life for herself, for her children, for her future. This past week she was rushed to the hospital where they removed a malignant tumor from her brain. In one day the world of Casey, her family and her friends was turned upside down.

It is really hard to understand why things like this happen to wonderful people and perhaps we cannot. I believe that Casey’s choices to be healthier and stronger this past year will help her fight harder and stronger on the road that is ahead of her. I believe in God, I believe in the power of prayer and I believe that our love and support at a time like this can make a difference somehow, someway.

At times like this we have a tendency to look at our own life and pay closer attention to things that we may be neglecting, excuses we may be making and changes we need to make.  Maybe it’s our own health, maybe it’s spending more time with family, maybe it’s saying I’m sorry to someone, maybe it’s spending more time with friends and less time at work, maybe it’s putting more focus on the truly important things in life and less time on the unimportant things that won’t really matter in 10 years. Sometimes the bad news of another  makes us realize the things in our life that we sometimes take for granted.

Please continue to pray for Casey and her family. Please take time today and everyday to do what matters most. 

We will be hosting a fundraising event at FitHouse next Saturday from 7AM-10AM to help raise money for Casey and her family and to show our support. Please join us as we host the Fight with Fitness and Bake for a Cause Event. We will be sending out more details early this week.

Preparation: Place Shakeology, water, 1/2 cup greens (spinach), frozen banana, pineapple, and tangerine and ice in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.
