Hello Everyone! We’ve got a great week ahead! We kick off the Slimmer by Summer Challenge tomorrow and are happy to have have so many of you on board! We also have the NBC STRONG Premiere Party Wednesday evening, and I am getting pumped!!! Todd gave us an inside view at a Strong event he attended in downtown LA (right in my old stomping ground) and the energy was through the roof!! Make sure to hop on over and sign up for Wednesday’s event if you haven’t already…it’s going to be a great time!
Last week was a busy week preparing for the challenge, and it was a busy weekend being at dance competition with the girls all day Saturday and Sunday. A lot of the events of this week and weekend got me thinking about what it takes to be healthy, feel our best and plan for success in life.
Adversity is all around us, it is a part of life for ALL of us!! A lot of times, the more we venture outside of our comfort zones, the more we expose ourselves to new experiences and try new things, the more adversity we are likely to face. This is where and when we can crumble, or we can grow.
So many times I have people tell me how their nutrition or exercise regime has been bad because they have been traveling or their schedule has been crazy or there were a lot of things going on. When I ask how they are feeling typically it is something like “Crap.” It is completely normal not to be at our best all of the time. But there are still options and good choices that we can make when we can’t be at our absolute best and when circumstances are not in our favor. Some exercise trumps no exercise and packing some healthy snacks trumps buying nachos at a concession stand. Packing healthy snacks or an apple instead of grabbing a bag of chips requires the same amount of effort. When we start to establish healthier habits the effort to be healthy starts to become the same as the effort that it takes to make unhealthy choices.
It is really easy to be controlled by the events in our life and to fall prey to our own excuses about why we can’t take care of ourselves. The truth is that they will always be there. We need to set ways and habits that we can live by even when those inopportune times arise. If we Expect for the best but plan for the worst then most likely we can work through those challenging days, weeks and months and still keep our health and wellness at the top of the list!

Most of you have heard me talk about my mentor, Todd Durkin! He is a top pro in the fitness industry and is an all around leader in health, fitness, spirit and life! I have been following him and learning from him for about 15 years. I was honored to become a member of his Mastermind team about 3 years ago. In that time I have had the opportunity to get to know Todd, his family, his Fitness Quest 10 Teammates and his circle on not just a professional but personal level. I believe that Todd is different than a lot of fitness professionals because he truly walks the walk that he talks. He is a life changer because he fights to create harmony in life, he holds himself to the highest standards and he encourages, motivates and drives those around him to do the same. He searches for Purpose in life and fitness and wellness are a part of that journey but definitely not the only part.
One of Todds BHAG’s (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) in life was to be on a television show or have his own where he could make an impact on hundreds of thousands of people. He was finally ready to write that one off when finally this past year his dream came true. He was chosen as a trainer on the new NBC series STRONG!! He has shared some of his journey with us and WOW what a journey it was!! I am super excited to see the IMPACT that Todd makes in the new NBC STRONG series and I wanted to bring some of that energy and excitement to FitHouse and shar eit with ALL of YOU!!!! We have decided to host a premiere party on Wednesday, April 13th for the opening of the show!!!
