Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. — Bradley Whitford

If there was one part of your body that you could make incredibly strong..what would you choose?? Over the past few months we  have been focusing  on the muscle of the month. This month as we enter the New Year let’s focus on perhaps the MOST important muscle in our bodies in regards to success…..The MIND. The mind is a powerful force, it can enslave us or empower us, it can magnify a problem or create a solution, it can show us threat or provide us opportunity. The strongest body cannot overcome a weak mind. Each and everyone of us has the power to achieve the greatness in our lives that we desire. Our minds however can often act as a roadblock.

Often when listening to my mentor, Todd Durkin, I  hear “Get Your Mind Right, Get Your Mind Right.” He says this as a reminder to himself and as a reminder to all of us. Why?? Because we all need to hear it. We ALL struggle at times with a weak mind, one that tells us we can’t , we are not strong enough, we are too tired, now is not a good time. Our mind can let fear or insecurity overtake us. The mind is a muscle that can be trained like any other and it’s power can be unstoppable!

Before focusing on any resolutions or New Years goals make sure that you have got your mind right! If your mind isn’t in the right place it will be twice as hard and take double the time to focus on where you are trying to go. How do we strengthen the mind??? Just like any other muscle daily exercises and habits can make the mind stronger so it becomes your most powerful tool! Here are 5 Tips on making your mind your strongest muscle.

1.  Stop Negative Talk.

Stop reminding yourself of all that you can’t do and pump your head with all that you CAN do. We all have limitations, what matters is what we will do to overcome them.

2. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others.

We are all on a different journey, with different  stories, goals and dreams and challenges. When you stop comparing yourself to everyone else you have a lot more energy to focus on yourself and how to make yourself happier, healthier and stronger.

3. Exercise 3 Times a week.

You knew I couldn’t leave this one out! Working up a sweat releases happy hormones called endorphins that can seriously improve your mood, lower stress and can help get you centered. It can also build your confidence, sharpen your memory and help you sleep better at night.

4. Take Time to Be Still.

I am working on this one. For most of us life is busy. When life is busy it is often hard to hear the voice inside of our head that reminds us of our inner strength.  It is in stillness that we can strengthen our minds, get rid of the clutter and leave space for new dreams, ideas and plans.

5. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.

It often takes the big stuff like a death, a close call, a tragic event or an illness or injury in life to make us realize that what we often worry about is just “small stuff.” If we can learn to let go of the small stuff we can reduce a lot of stress from our minds and live a lot happy and healthier.

Let’s get to work on making our mind stronger than ever in 2017!!!!
