Fuel Your SpiritGreetings from Park City Utah! Many of you know I escaped for a few days to come to the Todd Durkin Mastermind Retreat. Some of you may wonder exactly what a mastermind group is. Until I met Todd I wasn’t sure either. Well I looked up the definition to give you a clear  concise description and this is what it said. “A Group of folks that share a common goal and are looking to encourage and help each other improve. Participants raise the bar by challenging each other to create and implement goals, hold each other accountable, brainstorm ideas and support each other to help each other improve and create the success they want. In a nutshell that pretty much sums it up!!

It never ceases to amaze me the power of taking a step away to connect with others, reconnect with myself and create clarity about life. While these retreats are about bettering our businesses and our our ability to change lives in the fitness industry they are ultimately about taking the steps that we need to better our own self so that we can be the absolute best for ourselves, for the people around us and ultimately in life! The weekend was filled with a lot of laughing, a little crying and a ton of passion! I just want to share with you my top takeaways from the past few days.

  1. We ALL have the ability to change a life – don’t ever waste that opportunity
  2. We ALL wear many hats some, and at some points in life, more than others. They may look like this; Mom hat, employee, wife, husband, business owner, friend, PTA mom, Class parent, daughter, son, etc. We need to limit our hats to 5 or 6 based on what is the most important to us at the moment and realize that we can’t wear all hats equally well at all times.
  3. We have to take care of ourselves if we are going to take care of others. We NEED to make ourselves a priority sometimes.
  4. Rely on your support system and invest your time, energy and money on the things that will get you closer to where and who you want to be.
  5. You are the ONLY one who can take ACTION and make whatever it is that you are seeking happen; set a goal, make a detailed plan and surround yourself by others who will help hold you accountable.
  6. Most of us have the desire to succeed but commitment and discipline are necessary to make it happen
