Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful fathers out there, husbands who are fathers and our own fathers. Any of you who are parents know that as a parent there is no greater role in life than that of helping to shape the lives of your children. One of my favorite gifts for both Mother’s day and Father’s Day are the cards that they make at school where they share their true perspective of who we are in their eyes and what we mean to them. In Ashlynn’s Mother’s Day card, when asked her mom’s favorite food she put egg casserole…yes you all know it, the sweet potato spinach one that I have posted in the past. Well I definitely like it but I can think of several other food items that would bump the egg casserole out of first place. When I chuckled as I read it her reply was, “Well, you do eat it almost every day!” She had a good point!
So as Father’s Day rolled around I was excited to see what goodies Mikes’s cards had in them! Here were a few of my favorites.
“You are as cool as McCutchen” Ash
“You always support us” Makenna
” You love me when I feel sad” Ash
“You are awesome at telling stories to me and Brooklynn” Ash
“You are so strong I’ll bet you could even lift a car full of weights” (she may have confused this with mom’s ;)Ash
“You are the best dancer/singer” Brook
“You are the bomb” Brook
“You let me jam out to my music in the car” Kaylie
” You give us raspberries and make us laugh” Everyone
I love these cards because they emphasize the little things, the everyday occurrences and how we are viewed from the eyes of a child. The things that are often taken for granted or that can seem tedious to us are the things that in the eyes of a child are often the most important! As a parent and also as a person it feels really good to be reminded that the little things mean more than we realize sometimes.
As we go through life as a parent or on our own individual journeys, one of the most important things that we can remember is the power of the little things! If you had to make a list right now for your father, about the little things that have made a difference what would be on it? I challenge you to take a few moments this week to thank someone in your life for those little things!!! Also take a moment to be proud of the little things that do daily that add up to BIG things in the eyes of many!!!!
Thank You to All of the Fathers out there for being great at the little things!!!!

FitHouse Takes Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis
Join us for a special workout and fundraiser dedicated to two of our own FitHouse members, the Belfiore’s, in hopes to raise awareness and support for Joe and Owen and the entire community. Click the picture and link above for more information on how Joe and Owen are taking steps with Pittsburgh to raise awareness. Any type of donation is appreciated.
DATE TBA
As most of you know already, this is a personal goal for our family because the effects of Crohn’s have touched us. It has been over three years since Owen had his bowel resection surgery and since then he has been blessed by good health and great care! Please help us join the fight to raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s research! My family and friends will be participating in the Take Steps Walk in Pittsburgh this coming June, and our goal is to raise over $5000. Please help if you can. Join the fight to find a cure for Crohn’s!”
Regards,
Joe & Owen Belfiore
