The Gift of Time this Holiday Season.
Wow, these weeks sure do fly by! I have become especially aware of the concept of time lately and frankly, it’s a little scary how fast it goes. As I go down the list of things and events before Christmas, there is one thing that I can’t buy or give to anyone and they can’t buy or give it to me. Time. Sometimes, something in our life will remind us what an amazing gift time is, and how it can be lost or taken away so easily. A great reminder is that we have the ultimate choice on how to spend it! Sometimes all it takes is spending 1/2 hour a day doing something that “slows down” time… play a game with your family, make time to fit in a good workout or going to see a family member or friend who needs you. How can you “slow down” the craziness of the season and make it mean a little bit more?
During the busy holiday season some may argue, I just don’t have time to exercise, most of you reading this know that exercise often increases the quality, productivity and management of our time. Exercise is something that can be worked in to so many different parts of the day as long as our mind allows us!!! Check out this Grinch workout below!!! This is a part of our Holiday Challenge. It’s a fun way to spend a little family time and get the whole family moving too!!!
5 burpees each time you hear a made up Whooville word
10 push-ups every time the grinch steals something
15 jump squats each time “The Grinch” song is played
20 jumping jacks or plyo jacks every time the grinch flashes a grinchy smile
25 mountain climbers every time the narrator says “Christmas”

A Delicious and Healthy “Holiday” DIP to take to a holiday party or to make at home to enjoy!
Avocado Hummus
2 garlic cloves
1 (15 oz.) can of garbanzo beans
1 lemon, zest and juice
2 tablespoons tahini
2 avocados
salt to taste
few tablespoons olive oil
paprika
- Place garlic, garbanzo beans, lemon zest and juice and tahini in food processor. Blend until smooth. Salt to taste.
- Add the 2 avocados and blend just until smooth. Salt to taste again. Transfer to bowl, pour a few tablespoons of olive oil on top and sprinkle with paprika. Serve with your favorite whole grain crackers or be festive and serve with red peppers, radishes, cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices!! Enjoy!
