We hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend!!! What a beautiful weekend to celebrate America!! For so many of us we celebrate our freedom and the height of summer with friends, families, parties, barbecues, beverages,vacations and all the good stuff!!! Sometimes a few days of all of the good stuff leaves our bodies feeling not so good. Check out my list below on how to get your mind and body back after the holiday weekend!

  1. Start your day with a warm glass of lemon water. Squeeze half of a lemon into a glass of water and let this be your first beverage of the day! Some of the benefits this provides are a potassium boost and an extra dose of vitamin C, prevents oxidation, aids in weight loss, aids in digestion and keeps you hydrated! Make sure to hydrate through your day!!
  2. Exercise! You don’t feel like it but you NEED it! The best part is that you will never regret it! I can’t even list all of the benefits here but you know the top five, boosts mood, increases metabolism, reduces risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc, improves sleep, improves libido…we’ll end with that one!
  3. Eat clean! If you have been indulging a bit then you are probably retaining water and maybe a little extra weight and your body may feel achy and tired. Cut the sugar, get rid of the starchy carbs and go clean this week by sticking to lean protein, lots of veggies and a small amount of fruit this week!! Remember nutrition is medicine!!
  4. Get some extra zzz’s! Don’t hit the snooze button but go to bed a little earlier this week! It’s amazing how the combination of all of the above with a little extra sleep can make you feel like a champ! There are many proven benefits too like lower risk of many diseases, better mood, better weight control, lower risk of injury and chronic pain and clearer thinking!
  5. Take some zen time! For everyone this may be a little different. Take some time to be quiet and clear your mind and connect with your spirit! Our spirit is who we are! We have to honor it! Make sure to include 5 or 10 minutes every day of quiet time to reflect, journal, be grateful,or meditate. This can have a huge impact on your energy, your health and your mind!
